Very interesting. Is this the end of Flaherty?

The O's seem intent on bringing in a lot of competition for Flaherty's spot -- and maybe Schoop's.

Talk about a guy whose stats have been all over the map -- his OPS was .703, .557, .648, .736 and .572 in his five seasons where he got significant playing time

Hmmm, that really does put Flaherty's spot in jeopardy.

Wow, this guy is more than a utility infielder

Either the end of Flaherty or Schoop gets his year in AAA

I would have loved to bring in Cabrerra as our starting SS and gotten a comp pick for JJ Hardy.

I was figuring that Hardy would miss 30-50 games this year so Cabrerra could be a major pick up.

Amazing they could find an infielder who put up a lower OPS than Schoop last season, but they did.

Interesting note - Cabrera has played only started 10 games at 2B in his six year career.........so this appears to be a move for another SS. I think Schoop's spot is still quite safe.

Seems like a lot of money for a utility guy especially if he is only backing up JJ and Schoop. I have to think he would be a lock for utility and might have a shot at starting 2B. Maybe De Aza is getting traded.

Does Flaherty have options or would he have to clear waivers for us to keep him?
